Discovering Off-Piste Skiing

Leave the marked runs safely and discover the pleasure of untouched snow in the heart of the Mont-Blanc country.

Who is it for?

You have mastered the parallel turn on every red run and ski black runs at a moderate pace, but you have no experience of ungroomed snow yet. You dream of drawing lines in fresh snow, but the fear of losing your balance or committing to slopes that are too steep holds you back?

This format is designed precisely to lift those apprehensions, lay solid foundations and give you a first taste of off-piste skiing with complete peace of mind.

What we cover:

  • Feel and Glide: Discovering how it feels to ski ungroomed snow off the marked runs, on gentle slopes.
  • Balance and Energy: Finding your new balance points and adapting your technique to save energy.
  • Managing Stress: Taming apprehension with supportive, professional guidance. Gaining calm through simple mental preparation keys.
  • Equipment and Safety: Getting familiar with safety equipment (transceiver, shovel, probe).
  • Comfort and Flexibility: Sessions close to the ski area, so we can rejoin the groomed pistes the moment you need a break.

The goal: Build confidence, acquire the right technical reflexes and open the door to the wider off-piste terrain.

Technique and Versatility

Hone your skills in every kind of snow and enjoy exploring off-piste itineraries further afield in the Mont-Blanc country.

Who is it for?

You ski confidently on every groomed run. Off piste, you can link a few turns in powder (piste edges, open bowls), even if you still fall now and then. You want to move beyond the edges of the pistes and venture further into the mountains.

What we cover:

  • Technique and Flow: Linking turns without interruption and adapting your edging to changing snow (tracked-out, heavy, crusted, powder).
  • Control and Line: Learning to read the terrain on steeper slopes, to adjust your speed and steer your skis with precision.
  • Managing fatigue and stress: Making your physical effort count and using simple mental preparation keys to stay calm when the slope steepens.
  • Safety and Independence: Moving gradually further from the ski areas and practising avalanche searches for real (transceiver, shovel and probe).

The goal: acquire the technical independence you need to ski safely in variable snow and on steeper slopes, with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before heading off-piste with us

If the weather turns or the avalanche risk is high, we move the itinerary to a safer sector. If conditions do not allow off-piste skiing at all, safety workshops (transceiver search, digging and probing) can be offered instead.

The meeting point is confirmed the day before, so the outing can be matched to the snow conditions, the weather and which lifts are open.

So that safety stays maximal and tuition stays personal, groups are capped at 6 people per professional. 4 people for the Vallée Blanche.

Transceiver, shovel and probe are compulsory. Check that your avalanche transceiver has fresh batteries, or batteries charged to at least 80%.

You need to be self-sufficient in every kind of snow (powder, tracked-out, hard snow) and at ease on black runs. Good physical condition is needed to handle the altitude and the effort. In any doubt? The Vallée Blanche Preparation day lets you confirm your level beforehand.

Yes, because it is an unmarked high-mountain itinerary on a glacier (crevasses and seracs, risk of falls and other hazards). Being led by a high-mountain guide guarantees the right choice of itinerary and optimal safety.

Make sure you are covered by mountain search, rescue and repatriation insurance (such as Carte Neige, Vieux Campeur, or the specific cover on your bank card).
