01 Scope

These terms apply to the services offered by Christelle Gioana, fully certified ski instructor (see the legal notice): ski lessons, off-piste skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding, in the Chamonix valley, Les Houches, as well as neighbouring ski areas in France, Italy and Switzerland.

02 Request and confirmation

Sending the booking form (or enquiring by phone) is not a firm booking: it is an availability request. I will get back to you quickly to confirm the date, time, location and price.

The booking becomes firm once a deposit of 50% has been paid.

03 Prices

Prices are shown on each activity page and confirmed in writing before any booking. Unless stated otherwise, they do not include lift passes, equipment rental, transport, meals or personal expenses.

04 Deposit and payment

A deposit of 50% of the total price of the service is required to confirm the booking. It is paid by bank transfer or via Wise (link available on request).

No online payment is offered on the Site.

Balance: the balance is due no later than the day before the lesson, by bank transfer, or on the day itself in cash, before the session starts. Access to the lesson is conditional on payment in full.

Please arrange your method of payment in advance.

Please note: the total price of the services (skiing and outdoor activities) is payable in euros or in bitcoin. Any bank charges and exchange-rate differences remain payable by the client.

05 Cancellation policy

Mountain weather changes and shifts from day to day: it is not in itself grounds for cancelling an outdoor activity.

The mountain professional alone decides whether the service can go ahead. That may be because of hazards, weather, snowfall, wind, and so on.

Cancellation by the client: free of charge up to 21 days before the lesson date — the deposit is then refunded in full. Less than 21 days before the lesson date, the deposit is not refunded.

Exceptions:

  • sudden closure of the ski areas and of hotel services because of a pandemic;
  • serious illness (medical certificate required);
  • recent accidental physical incapacity (medical certificate).

If the ski area is closed by the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, or opens late, no refund or compensation can be claimed.

06 Right of withdrawal

In accordance with article L221-28 12° of the French consumer code, leisure services to be provided on a specific date are not subject to the 14-day right of withdrawal. The cancellation terms above apply.

07 Participant obligations

Participants undertake to state their level and physical condition honestly, and to arrive with suitable equipment (helmet compulsory under the age of 18; safety equipment essential for off-piste and ski touring).

Personal liability and accident insurance covering skiing is strongly recommended (check your bank card cover, the insurance sold with your lift pass, or your own private policy).

Insurance: carreneige.com

The professional may adapt, shorten or stop the service if safety so requires; the choice of routes is theirs.

Learning to ski takes place in a specific environment whose conditions cannot be fully predicted. Practising it therefore requires the participant to personally look after their own safety and that of others.

The instructor's liability is limited to an obligation of means. It is up to the participant to follow the directions of the instructor or of the high-mountain guide.

Participants are solely responsible for their own equipment.

08 Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a problem, please first send your complaint to Christelle Gioana, who will do her best to resolve it amicably; failing an amicable agreement, the French courts have jurisdiction.
